I've noticed a frustrating trend in some of my recent interviews where the employer ends the conversation very abruptly. Yesterday, a phone interview was cut short after I answered just a single question. I was barely five minutes in and didn't even get a chance to ask my own questions. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if there's a reason for it, or if it's just incredibly rude.

Cutting an interview off after a single question strikes me as very odd. I'm almost wondering if it was some kind of test to see if you'd work to keep the conversation going or something. But it's just strange, I've had interviews where the person seemed barely interested but I never had anyone bail out that quickly.

That's both strange and unprofessional. My guess is that for some reason they decided you weren't the right candidate for them. That was not the right way for them to go about it, but I guess on the plus side, if you're the silver lining type, at least it saved you time as well.

Not sure if this is the right place, but in a privately owned business located in a right to work state, is verbal abuse allowed and would swearing at and putting down an employee in front of a bunch of other employees and in front of customers be deemed verbal abuse?
