I’ve seen job ads that say immediate start but then take weeks to respond. Why do companies do that?

Its rough nowadays with obligations in the morning with family to go into work overnight as well. I tried applying to my area numerous times over a year and get the same set of responses, apologizing as they are not hiring (when the site(s) say they are) or that they are eyeing other candidates’ without meeting face to face to truly gauge the intellect of the applicant in the environment.

I feel there is either no effort on the employer and they take whoever the cheapest option is, or nowadays AI systems to look over/generate resumes.

I need something during the days soon for the sake of my health.

That’s a good point! You’d think that if they need workers that they would respond in more of a timely fashion

100% if an employer doesn’t get back to you in time what makes you think they’re a good boss that’s the whole point is availability. YOU RUN A BUSINESS.

I know I’ve applied at a hobby lobby and they take like months to process

A lot of times it’s simply because there are more applicants than expected. Even if a company wants to fill a position immediately, they may receive dozens or even hundreds of applications and need time to review them, conduct interviews, and complete the hiring process. “Immediate start” usually means they have an urgent need, not necessarily that the hiring process itself will be immediate. When I’m hiring urgently, I unfortunately can’t review every application, mainly because I have anywhere between 100-200 applicants. My advice to you is, apply apply apply!!! You got this 👍

So you need a cap for the amount of applicants this is the problem with the job force is employers don’t regulate who they interview you could’ve missed a 5 star employee because he applied last shame on you. Also strive to be better because if you tried you could check 200 applicants, you felt you didn’t have time but it’s all god gave you.

Hi guys I am posting this again I have offer of almost same package from Accenture and IBM . Accenture offering is very slight more but that's not my key consideration. Which company is better in terms of job security, work life balance. That's the top most factor I am considering. Learning and project and latest niche technology is the other important factor after first 2 factors .

Just received 2 offers that I’m weighing, both in Advertising tech:
1. Smaller firm about to be acquired by a larger one, Product Marketing role (title would be Sr. PMM)
2. FAANG, Sales Account Manager role (similar to my current role)
I have 5-6 YOE and have been in an Account Management role for most of my career - is it worth making the switch to PMM at a smaller firm or sticking with what I know at a FAANG? Both would have relatively similar comp. Thanks in advance for your input!

Our employee satisfaction survey is tied to our performance goals. Meaning, if we rate management badly, we cannot meet 10% of our goals which in turn affects our bonuses and raises. We asked HR but they didn’t do anything about it. Is this normal? Is this legal? If not, what else can we do about it?

"People just want it to work" is a thing clients have said about the product the company I work for makes. It's true. And it's all over. I usually think it's because Agile's method is what everyone thinks works but so much stuff across all tech areas seems to be released broken and then never fixed or fixed way too slowly. Anyone else feel this way? Has Agile worked for you and your clients?
