We cleaned up in five minutes, cracking jokes the whole time. That moment taught me more about teamwork than any training ever did.

I was refilling a machine that had a bag of creamer, which was an absolute pain to get in there. Sure enough, broke the bag and it got everywhere. Thankfully, we were slow, and a few coworkers came to help me clean it up. The great milky mess was actually a really funny memory from being there, after the fact!

Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed. He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.
