Feed them treats together and let them get each other's scent. Supervised visits in the same room. I always had trouble with the door thing because my cats couldn't see the other cat, so they were concerned. Once they saw it was a kitten or a foster cat, they were way friendlier.
Take it slow! Rushing an introduction could make it worse

Watch Jackson Galaxy videos too!
If you're following all the steps from the videos below, you just have to wait it out. New cat introductions are hard to predict but the best approach is to take it slow despite the inconvenience.

Also, the kitten lady is a great resource on getting the kitten set up:

Agree — it just takes time. My cats hissed a lot at first but in a few months they got over it. Now they’re best friends!
I have the same issue. 4 yr old cat and got a kitten a few months ago. Iggy (my OG) hisses all the time but on the bright side, they definitely play together even if playing is chasing each other. So you can look out for that. Like my OG teasing the kitten is a good sign.
Time! Honestly, it just takes time. They will figure it out ❤️ just go slow and reward good behavior
I had to put my cat on Prozac 🤷🏻♀️
How slow were your slow introductions? We did a slow introduction following Jackson Galaxy’s recs between our resident 13 year old and new 4 year old. In total in took 4-5 weeks until they could be in the same room without physically fighting (resident cat attacking new cat). Sometimes resident cat still hisses at new cat if he gets too close and will occasionally swat at him. I agree with other commenters who recommended taking it slow. Very slow.
Canned food. Give them both canned food - you can start on opposite sides of the door or with them able to see each other. I had a cat who would freak out if he couldn’t see a new kitten. He didn’t like the new kitten but he wanted to be able to see them. So gauge your adult cat (and kitten) accordingly.
