Bain & Company Hi all, I am interested in making the move to the Middle East, however starting from august/September. What do you think are the prospects for the future in the region? Do you envisage a hiring freeze or are companies still going strong? Thanks!McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Kearney Bain & Company

You are definitely able to aim for the roles you mentioned. However if they don’t work out, don’t be afraid to take a strategy/BD role at a tier 2/3 tech to get the relevant experience. It will be a lot easier to get noticed by FAANG when you have directly relevant experience. (Source, I am now getting interviews I was promptly ignored by before my current role)
BCG1- nothing in mind specifically. More used “tier 2/3” to mean a well reputed non-FAANG/non-first choice company. The point is you can make it to your first choice over a few career moves, it doesn’t have to be all in the first jump

I’m sorry you’re going through this! Was there another round of layoffs?
Yep another round of a few since early June.
Yikes, did you at least get some tuition reimbursement? I think you would have a good shot at the roles you mention. Probably anything that someone could get out of a top 15 business school
When you say just .. does it mean you got an email at mid night? Do they lay off through email? Or the called you earlier today?
They inform you via email in a cryptic way Subject line “meeting with PPMD” and an HR person. The body of the email contains no information. The meeting is for the following day. Then you have a Zoom call where the PPMD that you have never met reads a script and tells you the reason is related to covid business impact. No additional info is given except that it isn’t performance related. Then the HR person gives you off boarding instructions.

As of Dan’s call last Friday, layoffs are 90% done in consulting.
My hypothesis: The remaining (for the most part) are PMDs. The firm doesn’t want to pay extra days for 4th of July - so they’re likely speeding it up.
