I have opened a new salary account with icici for gds but still have not been contacted by payroll team.

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. I'm currently interviewing for a remote role for a company based in NY.

The thing is I'm based in a different city (southern U.S.)

My question is:

When it comes time to talk compensation, should I base the market rate for the role on my city of residence or NY?

Would it make sense to ask them directly how they determine comp for NY-bases vs. other city-based employees?
