Is this correct?

I recently interviewed with MITRE for a systems engineering role to make the move from Leidos where I feel underpaid for the work I do and for my experience ($85K). I have 4 YOE, a STEM degree, and soon will have a Masters Degree. I’m looking to make around $120K in the new role at Mitre. Does anyone have any insight into comp there? This would be in the DC metro area. Does $120K seem reasonable or am I dreaming?

I really don't think it is every too late to reinvent yourself. And 30 is definitely not too old to do something else. You are only just getting started.
Sometimes I get nervous when I see more recent college grads already making six figures and I start to compare myself. Trying not to but its hard.
30 is still a baby almost. You could transition to anything and not be behind. I met a guy changing careers at 55 years old once. Very inspirational to never let age hold you back from doing what you enjoy.
Wow 55 is crazy. That's so cool that he's changing careers, it really does inspire me. If he can do it at 55 then I certainly could do it at 30.
I don’t think it’s ever too late. My mum is 58 and she’s changing now from being a financial controller to a writer! It’s what she’s always wanted to do!
In theory never too late to pivot careers. In reality it depends what area of finance tbh. You will struggle to get in the door for front office roles in things like investment banking / PE / Credit / etc. without a significant middle step such as MBA from a good school. Other areas of finance it really depends on your background. I would also recommend non-front office roles within a finance firm that relate to your current role such as project management, operational risk, marketing, etc. These can be incredible careers and will likely be an easier transition for you.
