It’s such a tough line, and I hate that women’s clothing is still policed in the workplace. There’s so much nuance to how an outfit looks, and if you were able to feel comfortable moving around in it, I think it’s fine. If you feel comfortable with your manager, you could ask them their opinion

I did exactly that, I went straight to him as in that situation I wasn’t sure what to do. He did reassure me that it was absolutely work suitable and that she was just being petty! It’s just sad sometimes that some women feel the need to put others down to make themselves feel good! Especially when I’m a person that will always compliment others!
If you felt the dress was work-appropriate and it fits your usual style, that’s what matters. Sometimes comments like that say more about the person than your outfit. If it makes you uncomfortable, you could say that you wear what you wear because you feel confident and professional! Setting boundaries is totally okay, your comfort and confidence should always come first!

100%, totally agree with this. I spoke to my manager and he said pretty much the same thing! I definitely need to get more confident at saying how I feel in response to people rather than just politely laughing things off
It’s what you feel comfy in. If it’s a bit low cut ( maybe at certain angles or if you bend over), and it makes you self conscious, just wear a tank top or something under it

It was more low cut than my usual clothes but not at all that I’d need to put something underneath it! I think it was a bit of an unnecessary comment from my colleague in all honesty
