Lately I’ve been feeling pretty comfortable in my current role - not actively looking, but every now and then I wonder what kind of offer would actually make me consider a move. For me, it’s not just about the raise (though that definitely matters!). I think it’d have to be a mix of better compensation, growth potential, and maybe a culture shift. Curious if you’re content where you are, what would it take for you to seriously consider a new opportunity?

I'm more of less content where I am and not terribly motivated to make a move. I had thought perhaps this year would be a time to get serious about looking about for a better situation. But the job market at present doesn't feel like something I'd really want to get involved with. For something to lure me away it would have be a combination of a nice pay bump along with seeing a pathway for advancement. So, I'll get there in time, but it doesn't yet feel right.

That makes a lot of sense- sometimes being comfortable is the best place to be until the right opportunity comes along. It’s smart to wait for something that offers both growth and better pay rather than rushing into the market when it doesn’t feel right. Patience often pays off!

I’m in the same boat, comfortable but occasionally curious (just not willing to leave my job without something better lined up). For me, it’d take a meaningful bump in pay, a clear path to grow, and a culture where people actually seem fulfilled. It’s hard to leave comfort, but I'd totally do it for the right opportunity

Yes! Comfort is hard to leave, but having a clear path, better pay, and a positive culture can make all the difference. It’s smart to wait for the right fit rather than just jumping ship. Here’s hoping that perfect opportunity comes along soon!

A new offer would need to check more than salary boxes: clear growth paths, better work-life balance, and a team culture that actually vibes with me. If a place feels like it’ll challenge and value me differently, that’s when I’d seriously weigh jumping ship.

like

Absolutely - that’s a thoughtful approach. Salary is important, but feeling valued, supported, and having room to grow really make the difference!

Same here - for me, it would need additional flexibility and a path to progression along with a nice raise.

like

Totally agree - flexibility and growth opportunities are just as important as a good raise. It’s all about finding the right balance that makes a move worthwhile.

For some time now, series about the pre-end of the world time is becoming more and more popular, this is the case with "The Handmaid's Tales" it has a perfect image design, characters with a perfectly defined background, and the ability to represent a totally possible pre-apocalyptic world. It has it all. Any other series with these features?

Professional assessment tests...

Can anyone recommend online professional assessment tests for profiling personality / aptitudes, rather than for skills?

Or can you share which assessments you've seen private equity firms using most often?

I have been a software developer (professionally) for about 7 years now, but I’ve decided to move out from that job and do something else (still in tech).
I don’t know yet what to do exactly, but I know I just don’t want to be only writing code every day.
Tbh, I am scared. But I have set myself one year to learn something new.
I also want to go for a job that pays more (55k€ currently). I live in Paris, France, and software developers are not well paid.
Any suggestion for a career transition?
