I can't believe I am reading this in UK section of Accenture. I joined 18 years ago and the salary was almost same as what you mentioned. Do you live outside of London? Have a chat with the MD on the account and share your concerns. Skipping meals and working in corporate for one of the largest firms is just mind boggling, sorry to hear that and hope things get better. I jumped as CL5 last year into another firm and things are much better....accenture is not the same it was 4-5 years ago.
It’s tough because I’ve felt stuck. Feel like not built skills in the area I’ve wanted and side of desks aren’t as good as doing on projects in terms of cv and Interviewers examine in depth plus I don’t have enough skills for the job area I’d want to go into because of the lack of projects here. I’ve finally managed to join a good project and I hope it’s a good learning curve. I really hope I can learn a lot in the next 8 months so that I can leave with some good kills on my cv that I’ve struggled to previously get. Problem is again just the financials and waiting that long but then what choice do I have. I know people like myself at Accenture between level 12-9 who have to skip meals. It’s so disheartening. I have seniors asking me to do xyz work beyond my project because I’ve been so helpful yet no pay increase and keep asking me to come into office. I also know level 9’s on the same pay as me now due to the salary changes. Accenture needs to do better. It’s ashame I think if it wasn’t for the salary and if I had a good long term project I liked I would want to stay here and work my way up.
It’s absolutely industry poor a 40K Salary at level 10 there is only one option!
Consider applying for other opportunities that allow you to live in London while gaining the skills you need from your current project.
Try to avoid going into FCS unless absolutely necessary to minimise financial stress
It's difficult. I agree. See what June brings. In the meantime don't work more than contracted for and spend time assessing the external market.
If June passes gas, leave for greener pastures.
What other options have you got?
Sorry about the rant
Don’t bother going over and above, I did it for 2 years and been up for promotion a few times now but not gotten it, it’s just crap tbh. But yeah do the minimum, focus on yourself and set boundaries and push back on things wherever you can. And as others have said keep on the look out for other roles and something will come along!
Get a better paying job, perhaps?
I appreciate your point but you are still close to the median salary for London which is pretty good for a junior level employee. This sounds like a you problem.
Some suggestions
1. Look at your finances for savings - a lot of people earn as much as you or less and probably with more financial commitments so it's possible to fix this.
2. Ensure you're top of the list when Accenture finally does a proper promo round.
3. If you need more money quickly, go onto the job market and start applying. If you can't get hired elsewhere for more money, build up your skills so you can.
Can only build up skills if accenture has the roles. Certifications only get you so far.
And not really for the amount of years experience now we should be earning much more.
