A good LinkedIn DM to a senior creative at an agency is usually:
1. Short
2. Specific to their work
3. Clear about why you’re reaching out
4. Easy to reply to
Structure-wise:
* Opening/context
* Genuine observation
* Why you specifically
* Soft ask
* Low-pressure close
Here’s a clean framework you can adapt:
Hey [Name] — I came across your work on [campaign/project] and really liked the way you approached [specific detail].
I’m a [your role/background], and I’ve been exploring more agency-side creative work, especially around [specific interest].
Your path at [agency] stood out to me because [brief specific reason].
Would love to ask you 2–3 quick questions sometime if you’re open to it — even just over LinkedIn messages. No pressure either way, but I’d really appreciate the insight.
A few things that make these work better:
* Mention a real campaign/project instead of “love your work”
* Keep it under ~120 words
* Don’t ask for “pick your brain”
* Don’t attach your portfolio immediately unless they ask
* “2–3 quick questions” gets more replies than “can we hop on a call?”
If you want, I can also help you with:
* a colder/more confident version
* a Gen Z casual version
* a networking-without-sounding-desperate version
* a version specifically for creative directors, strategists, copywriters, or art directors
* a follow-up DM if they don’t respond after a week
lol my bad
