Lol, yeah, your firm is crazy.
Subject Expert
Nah why would adults do that
What ? lol - no
Name and shame. That is abnormal.
I have a few guesses. Could be several.

Cursing at colleagues? No. Putting your foot through the bottom of a copy machine at 3 am because it ate a closing argument outline? Um, I might have observed that once or twice…
Mentor
Shouting and cursing in anger? No. An occasional contextually appropriate f bomb dropped on a deserving opposing lawyer or witness? 🤓

I mean, can you really claim to be a true trial lawyer if opposing counsel hasn’t threatened to throw you out of a skyscraper? A few years before you started, a well known bankruptcy lawyer once lifted a creditor’s counsel off his chair by his tie in front of the judge. Imagine what probably happened at 2 am at that firm…
Abnormal. But: the high-conflict litigation environment isn’t for everyone, and there is a subset of litigators who, I think, lack the temperament and self-possession required to function healthily in that environment. Thus they live in a near-constant state of dysregulation, which manifests in emotional outbursts and meltdowns that look like anger and aggression. Similar to a toddler, but many of these people don’t understand that they’re expelling their emotional state onto others (that requires self-awareness and introspection which are difficult to access in the dysregulated state) and have instead likely convinced themselves that their behavior is evidence of their passion and zealousness as an advocate. In a group where a leader acts like this, others see that it’s ok and maybe even somewhat encouraged to let it rip when they’re feeling bad, and the negative energy spreads and feeds off itself.
No. I’ve never seen or heard that. That’s crazy
My last firm was like that. Thankfully, I'm remote, so I only had to deal with them via Zoom. Even the "group leader" would yell, cuss, then just disconnect like a man baby. It was extremely toxic.

Never once. I would leave the first time this happened that’s insane
Coach
Haven't been in a single one like that
Coach
What are they yelling about
No. Never. Maybe the occasional attorney being "short" while actually in trial. We have all had late nights prepping for the next day of trial; that's forgivable. Yelling and cursing have no place.
My last firm was like this. Ruuuuuuunnnnnn
