1000% yes, esp if Anthropic. If you have one of those names on your resume it’s instant credibility and you’ll automatically have your foot in the door with virtually any organization.
Take me with you . 200% yes. On a serious note, I am looking as wells what is the job profile you are going to and can you refer
Take me with you bro
It depends on the role tbh. Yes, those names will be incredible on the resume, but if you're only taking the job because it might look good for the NEXT job, that's a weak reason, especially because you'll need to be there 4 years or so to vest equity.
If other jobs are going to pay you 75k more in cash, then there's a question as to if you just buy equity in Anthropic when it goes public with that extra money.
I would also assume (and I could be wrong) that at this point new hires aren't getting a TON of RSUs. So it's not like the equity will be your rocketship
I think there’s a high probability both of these companies would be quite a bit below IPO price after your lockup, esp. OAI. So you just need to be prepared for a 50% drop in equity value for the next 1-2 years.
Let’s say they fall to 400-500B (imo likely, if not worse), meaning your RSU is only worth 125k a year. At that point it’s 350k for a role you like vs 400k for a role you dont like

I would require a strategic role that’s high visibility not a support role, meaningful RSUs (which you don’t have) and a reasonable path to promotion in 1-3 years. Anthropic has a lot of money. I just had a friend join there (previous A&M Senior Director) that got $600k in equity and $450k total comp (base + guaranteed bonus with potential for upside)
They know how much you make at McK. It’s pretty standard. If they expect you to take that kind of pay cut, the role you’re going into might not be very influential at all or are not excited enough about your skills for you to reasonably expect a quick promotion…if you happen to get laid off at Anthropic, good luck explaining the title drop. If I saw your resume I would expect you got laid off at McK and that’s why you took the lower paying role at Anthropic.
One time equity sign on + 8% of salary per year.
No
OpenAI is losing billions a year and has been scrambling for a month to see what lie sticks to cover up that fact...but I guess as long as most people continue not to know or care (like the people in these comments), your job will be totally safe at OpenAI.
Well because consultants never throw out lies to see what sticks.

Go with the company that match your values from insiders - don’t get fool by whatever you hear about either of them - one of them is going public so all what is important for them is profits and the other one is open source means no real benefit and just a copycat - just find a job that make you money and don’t try to engage with anyone there … it’s sad reality
