I was in house for an insurer/MGA/UW. My experience was all Lit ins def and coverage. No transactional, but a policy is a contract and I leveraged that to convince them any other contractual issue is no different. Want a lease for a new office, I can review it and mark it up, have an NDA to prepare for a dismissed employee no problem I draft releases that are just as difficult for every claim I've settled. This was a small outfit so legal counsel did it all. I even worked on redomesticating the ins. Company into another state. Most large insurers will have dedicated counsel for coverage to work with underwriting, claims that work with outside counsel, and transactional stuff. So don't shortchange yourself you are a lawyer you can figure it out.
If these roles existed for attorneys, it’s going to be extremely competitive to get it. Kind in mind that a lot of insurance “in-house” roles are actually just insurance defense work that is not being outsourced to another insurance defense law firm.

Are you interested in in house roles?
Yes I am! I’ve been primarily looking at in house roles, but I do not have transactional experience so I feel limited in that way.
I’m at a firm doing claims and coverage work and am fully remote. I really like my team, find the work interesting, and was just promoted. But there is a billable requirement. We’re hiring, lmk if interested
