Authority certainly helps but bringing data to back up your positions can be a very impactful and moves them from theories to reality for many leaders.
Also, that same data set can often be used to demonstrate the impact of the solution or I initiative you are looking to pursue once implemented, building your credibility.

People are resistant to change when they don’t trust the leader who’s bringing about the change. Work on building trust and winning people over. Personality is a big part of getting to the top.
