Anyone hear of a patent attorney going to an investment bank, hedge fund, or venture capital firm?? Considering a change. Thought I could use my skills to help investors analyze and valuate companies.

I know that people say it’s all about story, but with a certain gpa/gmat score is there a “floor” that you’re safe on? For example would someone with 4.0/780 (not me) be pretty much assured at least 1 M7? Or is there a reasonable chance that all M7s will reject them? Or is their floor just lower (T15 for example)?

I’m four months into my job and I got put onto a PIP. I worked so hard to break into IB, put up all the hours and even working 2am nights for weeks, learned a ton, and improved a lot along the way as the sole analyst yet this happens. I’m extra worried because it doesn’t seem there’s IB analyst positions out there. Im really hoping come January more positions come up but I’m just praying they don’t fire me until then. Any other first years out there worry that this virtual environment just won’t be able to teach them? I worry I’m not getting the same “plugged in” experience when I can’t knock on a door or walk into an office. Doesn’t help that my anxiety is heightened by feeling so isolated. Senior attorneys at v100, how common is it for attorneys who start at small firms to lateral to biglaw? Have you worked with any? Conventional wisdom is always that if you don’t start there it’s hard to “trade up”. My coworker and I just did it to two different great v30 firms, and I’m wondering if it’s really that uncommon? So, I landed a Customer Service Advisor job at Sitel in the UK. But I heard that they fire you without any prior notice or end their campaigns abruptly, leaving us with no job.
