Just do it. And everyday at 5

Malicious compliance. Love it.
I ask my team to block their calendar for mid-day appointments so we don’t schedule time with them, but OOO messages are really only warranted when you’ll be out for a full day or more. There should never be an expectation that every email gets an instantaneous reply.
Agreed - I live by the "reply within 24 hours rule." So no need to put up an OOO for a less than a day (though I do sometimes use it if I'll be out for a whole afternoon and not checking email til the next day).

like “I will be out of the office from 1030 to 11 taking a dump, in case of emergency, please contact my manager”?
Basically
I worked with someone who put their OOO everyday when they left until they returned the next day. Seemed a bit much but managed the expectations of people who would email after hours, I guess.
Maybe they worked with the same manager I’m working with
What does your manager want an OOO for that seems ridiculous? I do it if I’m unavailable for 3-4 hrs, or the remainder of the day, during business hours. So I don’t for appts, but do if I’m out for the entire morning/afternoon, traveling for half the day, or obviously away on vacation (I try to actually detach outside of work).
Smart
I have never used an OOO email reply in 5 years that I have worked here.
Amazing
I agree with putting a MEETING on your calendar if you're going to be out for a couple hours (so internal people don't try to schedule a meeting), but not an OOO reply to your emails. Unless you're gone for a full day+, the OOO reply is not necessary.

Petty. Love that for you
I once had a manager mock colleagues for putting out of offices on for anything other than actually being out of the office. I usually only put an out of office if it is a more than a day out of the the office - most people accept email / voicemail responses in about one business day.
What exactly is any and everything? If you’re out for the day, away for several days of training, etc yes put your OOO on so people aren’t expecting a reply when you’re supposed to be away. The other side of this is associates getting mad that a manager is pinging them to do work when we have no idea you’re out because you haven’t communicated that.
