If it’s a family emergency assuming medical you can get clearance and special permission from the embassy and once you arrive there you don’t have to stay in government quarantine place.
India has travel bubble with several countries, including USA. United is running direct flights. You’ll have to fill 2 forma on delhi airport website - air suvidha, and quarantine exemption.
I know United is operating flights to india from the US - and you do not have to register with the authorities- it’s like booking a normal flight -
Albeit you have to follow any quarantine procedures that India might have now.
Since it’s an emergency- I am guessing you have already calculated the pros/cons but just wanted to put out there about visas that you might face.
I would really suggest to join the SOS Indian Facebook group as well for more information.
I hope everything goes smoothly for you! Best wishes and stay safe!
No worries happy to help!

Travelled on United recently to India. Was reasonably priced. Get COVID tested before flying out
