Money vs time? I have a few days off coming up that I scheduled a while ago but they are unpaid days. Christmas is coming up and I could really use the pay now. But I feel the stress of the upcoming holidays and I could use the break. I’m torn. What would you do? Take the days off or work them?

Listen to your body. Take the time off. You can always make more money. You can't make more time.

Yes this is good advice, my body says it all. I need a break. And my brain agrees!

Ok

Ok what?

Rarely a time when we don’t need more money. Do what you feel you need to, just remember you deserve time off and rest too.

like

It’s hard to take care of yourself when taking care of others is your profession we tend to forget our self and value! Time off is needed to replenish.

Time off.

like

I agree.

Could you do a bit of both? Shorten the time off request and give yourself a little break + the money of working a few of those days? I'd look for a compromise!

like

Often I take time off and then work an extra shift later!!

I was in a similar situation a few months ago. I decided to take a week off and went on holiday. It was tight financially, but my family really needed that break. Everyone’s circumstances are different, though. It’s a tough choice! Do what feels right for you.

If the money going to be a significant amount work if is just afew hundreds that all going on tax don't no worth it

I always forget the tax implementations!

I would not be able to afford unpaid days off right before christmas. If you can afford it then take the days. If you cannot afford it? I would not take the days and plan better for next year

like

We actually are doing Christmas different this year. Skipping gifts. Cooking together. And sharing time and a meal.

Take the time off and find a way to lower bills you don’t need.

like

I took the time off! I needed it! Thank you all for advice! Now how to motivate is the question! lol

smart

Suffering in the pay check right now from talking the unpaid time off earlier. But it still was worth it! Like you all said, money comes and goes. Time off is needed, taking a break when we need it in important to fill our cup back up!

24 yo looking for advice! Within the next few years I’d like to exit to industry but also live in Korea for ~1 year. Playing around with two options:

1. Quit job, study abroad, then find an industry job

2. Secure job at an international company, quit my job, try to transfer to korea office

I’d prefer option 1 but my biggest concern is it will be more difficult to find a job while unemployed (ie after study abroad). Nervous about how 1 year unemployed will impact future job prospects...

Is it better to stay put?
