Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Maybe but you get Starwood points much more rapidly than Marriott
St Regis is Rome is the same as the cotton house autograph collection in Barcelona. Struggling through the SPG challenge staying at awful alofts during work week - just not seeing the benefit here.
As a platinum Marriott I feel like I earn more points and if the top line hotels all have the same point redemption does it really matter? Are the Pro-SPG basing best point valuation on lower tier hotels or mid-tier in some cities?
@ACN1 I'm surprised you are proSPG. Marriott still caters to people with their lounges which ends up working out in favor of those on per diems. I was Marriott when I was at ACN by default due to that and well client location and then I just stayed loyal I guess.
I dont know about Marriott but high end hotels in spg are not always 25k. I paid 16k a night for st Regis Osaka during cherry blossom season (high season)
Thanks C1 - good to know. Maybe Europe is just expensive. 16k was for a westin in Madrid. 26,500 for regis Rome. Granted the Rome rate is like 500+ euros peak so it's worth i guess.
High end hotels like the ritz can be upwards of 60k points. Generally 2x to stay in comparable Marriott properties versus SPG.
? I've always had access to the lounges in the Westins and Le Meridiens I've stayed in, so I've never really thought about that
(I never stay anywhere else)
I thought Westins were doing away with their lounges? True for the one I stayed in for several months at Dulles airport. They give you free breakfast coupons for platinum but I never have time to sit, order and eat in the morning. Grab and go is as good as it gets.
Hm my Westins had bacon eggs oatmeal cereal yogurt juices and tons of fruit, that's all I've needed
This is a classic case for putting your eggs in one basket, ie Marriott. Stuck with them and made lifetime gold recently in a little over 2 years (LF sweet spot is gold, coz of upgrades, free breakfast and internet). Marriott lifetime can be achieved without a clause related to years of membership. Have friends who split loyalty between SPG and Marriott, got them nowhere. With the acquisition, us lifers will get access to SPG properties at LF elite levels, thus shitting on the SPG loyalists parade.
