Motivation comes in all forms. Some people are super motivated and others not so much, but I believe it is part of the DNA.

Imagine having a Spouse that is happy to go along to get along and you are a take charge to get things done. You have more than 1 job, but they're happy with 1.

I understand it's a partnership, but would your motivation change if you're with someone moving at a snail's pace?

Now add in the snail pace partner waiting for you to succeed so he can take your money and send to his family while barking whenever you spend a dime on yourself or your family as though he made the money.
If possible, find a partner as motivated or at least who can hold his own. If married already, keep a joint and a separate account so you don't feel taken advantage of.
Yes, being with an unmotivated partner does weigh you down but you can figure out ways to make it work.

Indeed! The more I vent, the more I realize that I am not alone! I have set up a separate checking and savings, so I can spoil myself, even though he keeps barking.

@OP, it's FRUSTRATING! Especially so when they willingly choose to not put in more effort but keep checking in to see your progress and asking for this and that. You're definitely not alone.

Thank you! It's hard to stay motivated with a drag-shute.

I accepted a $115K base salary, 13% bonus, 10k sign on bonus (scientist supervisor) job and two weeks later, got a $135K base, 17% bonus, and 15K sign on bonus (Senior scientist role) offer from another company. Should I accept the new offer ? How do I tell the previous company about this? Also, I’ve already negotiated with the first company and the $115K base is the negotiated salary. I really do not prefer one company over the other. They’re both great! I’m very confused here. TIA🙏

How difficult is it to juggle a remote role with a hybrid role?

My current role is hybrid with at least two days a week in office. However, with the potential economic downturn, I'm considering holding on to the role to supplement my income.

I'm new to the overemployed movement, so I'm evaluating the feasibility of holding onto the hybrid role and the remote position.
