Hi! Look in the Harwood District in uptown if you want quiet, nice apartment living. Safest part of Dallas and super quiet/ away from all the crazy loud bars in Victory Park! I live down there and there are a lot of older residents where I live and I highly recommend!! I work hybrid in Las Colinas — commute there is never bad (~15 min normally) the drive back is always really bad anywhere from 30-40 min (and I leave at off times to try and beat it).
+1 for Harwood
I would definitely pick something closer to uptown, but it doesn’t have to be uptown. The commute can be tougher from my point of view. Have you considered the Knox/Henderson area or the M Streets? Good for your age group and lifestyle likely. I used to live in uptown and moved up to this area. It’s close to your work and plenty to do- it’s a mid 20s to 30/40s somethings and many mid-career professionals in this area of town.
Lakewood is great!
Have you looked in Addison? Addison has some nice spots and will be a decent commute but will likely have more singles in the immediate vicinity. I understand the appeal of Las Colinas but I wouldn’t want that commute. I’m also a single female in my mid 30s and I’ve moved to Plano and I hate my commute but I love the quiet. I lived in uptown for a few years and there were a lot of perks but the noise was horrendous.
Traffic won’t be bad. 13 mins with no traffic and 30 mins in rush hour. That’s a nice area a lot of my co workers live in and I work downtown.
Don’t live in Dallas(uptown, Knox Henderson, victory park, down town, trinity groves). They are breaking into cars in every apartment and on the street, so unless you have your own personal garage you and your car are not safe.
This is just not true
I did this commute for 10 months before moving to Addison. It was usually 30 minutes but definitely had days where it took upto 50 min because of traffic. Not ideal but do-able.
15 min commute in lower greenville area is a strong option, close to downtown as well as white rock lake with a great foundation area (lower greenville)
Commute shouldn’t be terrible ~30 min. Up to you if you think that’s worth it and if the Lake Carolyn view is worth it. I’ve lived and worked in Uptown for 4+ years and very much not into party scene. I enjoy the walkability of the area—restaurants, Katy Trail, gym. There are definitely quiet units to be found—it’s not all party scene.
I lived in the m streets when single. It was fun…would definitely recommend and commute was easy.
IMP the lake in Las Colinas is not worth such a long commute. There are plenty of nicer places closer to uptown.
Knox area is where I would look. Close to Uptown and near Katy Trail but quieter.
K so thoughts—— if it’s where you’d rather go after a day of work, the commute would be worth it. On a bad day, expect at least 30m-hour there and back.
Uptown is walkable and quiet if u find a quiet spot, but the lake sounds like it’s the most important thing here :)
If u can, come for a Wed night-Sat and check out the places and drive or go out on a limb and just sign a year lease haha.
Oo also make sure u actually get an apt with a view. Don’t let them lease u an apt with a view of the parking lot. 😬
how is dating as a single F in your mid 30s?
Not a single F in my 30s but from what I’ve seen you get to pick between divorced dudes in their 50s and alcoholics in their 30s.
Yeah if anything uptown is less party than it used to be! I feel that’s mostly moved to deep ellum or other places. Uptown’s biggest perk to me is the walkability to restaurants and the Katy trail / parks and the effectively 5 minute commute if needed.
True. They moved the partying from Uptown to Henderson/Knox or Deep Ellum.
