What a good news to have on Friday. IR35 repealed from April 23. Good old days of contracting are back. Good riddance from consulting companies who charge big rates and pay peanuts.

Can’t wait to leave D and go back to playing the tax system

HMRC is understaffed and has a huge COVID backlog

Expect to see tax shenanigans the likes of which have never been seen before

funny

Real impact on wages etc will be visible from April next year, that’s when fight for talent intensifies as many permies will move to contracting. Biggest losers will be consulting firms.

Let’s hope we see a reflective uptick in perm salaries then to retain!

Last week, I received a verbal offer from Deloitte as a SC and awaiting a formal offer. Do you think the news on IR35 will have an effect on the offer or delay it. Will it be a good or bad thing?

It was a call from the recruiter

Additional Posts in UK Consulting Compensation

Advice pls - was confirmed that Deloitte would be moving to offer approx 3 weeks ago. Offered lower than expected salary, asked for an increase and haven’t received any confirmation on the original or revised offer. Chased recruiter a few times only to receive a reply that its pending partner approval. Passed up a better offer in favour of getting into consulting and have another offer which I cannot afford to lose. Passed up offer 85k FNZ SC, current offer £80K Barclays VP, Deloitte -70k+6.7.

Hey folks, I'm getting an offer as a SC in EY UK. Presently I'm a manager with EY India (up for SM next yr Oct 2021). Comp is 55k range (haven't officially received the figure, a few more days it's expected, doing some homework before that).

I'll be moving with family. Wife may not immediately start working (,find a new job, we have a toddler daughter as well 2 YO).

I personally don't find this offer commercially attractive. Can someone offer some counter arguments?
