My job search took an unexpected and frankly alarming turn recently. A company contacted me through LinkedIn, and within a week, they offered me a job with a substantial salary bump, despite no interviews or even a proper application. While the company appears legitimate on the surface, the lack of traditional hiring steps seems like a huge red flag for a potential scam to me. Is this a new thing, or am I right to be concerned?

I've never heard of someone getting a job without an interview unless it was like your friend and family member getting hired to your company. But even then I've seen at least one interview happen. Even though the company checks out at first, I would look into it more. I would also see if you can get on a call with someone and ask them about the situation. If you're about to switch jobs I think it's fair for you to want all the details and make sure you're going to a legit workplace. It's giving red flags right now but I think it's worth looking into.

As someone in recruiting, I can tell you that skipping the interview process entirely is not standard. Even if they’re in a rush to hire, there should be at least a quick screening call. I’d dig deeper before accepting anything.

What is the difference between a Software Engineer I and II? When do you know you're ready to leave your first great SE job? Is there a way to get more money without leaving? I've been at my current company for maybe and year and a half but I'm not sure if I'm good enough to leave yet. My manager always says I'm doing well and I got promoted from SE I to SE II a few months back. I'm not sure if it's imposter syndrome or not but I just don't feel confident about interviewing at other places
