Do you have multiple supervisors? You mention your listed responsibilities - who is actually checking on those? The important thing is that your supervisor just gave you a great opportunity to actually explain to them what you do by admitting that they don't know what that is. So while I can appreciate that it is discouraging, realize it is a gift compared to them not knowing what you do and not telling you that. Set up some time with them to talk them through everything you're doing and potentially suggest a meeting with them and your other supervisor(s) to work through priorities for your time if necessary. Unfortunately the reality is that you have to self promote in the business world as your work will never speak loud enough for itself on its own.

Start giving them regular updates. Like every week shoot them an email on Thursday afternoon telling them what you did for the week. Give a broad overview and the focus in on impactful things your manager would really care about.
