After experiencing jobs with limited opportunities, I have come to appreciate the stability, learning opportunities, and career paths that many professional roles can provide. That does not mean every job is perfect, but perspective often changes when you compare where you are to where you started. Has your job search changed how you view the opportunities you have today?

Career advice?

I'm a relatively junior data engineer (2yoe), the only other engineer (senior) that trained me left about a 6 months ago and I negotiated a nice raise for the extra responsibilities.

My performance reviews have been stellar, but my manager is starting to look to hire a senior to help me deliver projects as we do lack capacity right now.

I feel like I might be missing an opportunity to ask for a promotion and hire a junior instead.
