Does anyone ever feel not respected or in some cases straight up disrespected on airlines or hotels in spite of status due to age, gender, race, or otherwise?
I am am Asian woman. I started a discussion about how we could improve our diversity and inclusion efforts on my UX team. I offered a possible solution. Out of a team of 14, only 4 responded, 2 female in support, 2 male with lukewarm and hostile responses. The silence is deafening from the rest of the team (all male). I don't want to be here anymore. I attribute this to being in Utah, majority white. Is it like this everywhere? Or if I change jobs, will it be better?

A lot of companies put out ads or talked about policy or internal changes in response to the BLM movement. I’m wondering if, beyond the immediate ads and statements that were released this actually continued. What are some things your agency has done… or could do to make a real impact in the realm of Diversity, equity and inclusions (DEI).

I’m still trying to process seeing an agency exec well known for dismissing and ignoring POC held up as an exemplary diversity champion for women at the 3% Conference.
So I typically don’t answer the EEO questions at the end of applications that ask for race and gender. Lately I’ve noticed companies following up via email for this information after I submit the application. Am I the only one who does this? Does it even matter? Any thoughts on the follow up emails asking for the information after the application has already been submitted?

Do NOT claim you are "colorblind" in the workplace. 1. DE&I knowledge is now a core leadership competency. Colorblind claims will earn you the reputation of being DEI-ignorant at best & racist at worst. 2. Colorblindness within the context of workplace diversity is an obvious lie. You do NOT want to be painted as an intellectually dishonest leader. 3. Colorblind claims signal that you lack the leadership skills & vocabulary to have key conversations. By now, nearly every CEO of a major company has made some public statement or proclamation of their commitment to racial equality, diversity, and such matters. What percent of those do you believe truly comes from the heart and a bias for both personal and corporate action, versus a necessary public relations response with little personal ownership? My view: about 30%. That is still a great number, because it’s far higher than zero.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
