My wife and I each have separate, individual health plans with our employers. When our son was born, we immediately added him to my wife’s plan and never added him to my plan. Our son had some complications and initially after paying them, her health plan is denying his claims for his first 31 days of life. They are citing automatic coverage under my plan and the birthday rule. They want my plan to be the primary payer. Is this the right application of the birthday rule?

What are some pros and cons of taking a break (for a week) in between jobs when on H1B?

I have a looming sense of self hatred. I take medication I workout and do all the things to feel good, but it’s just stuck there. Constantly thinking I’m trash, in a bad person, etc. Feeling guilty for things idek if I should feel guilty about. This is a privileged problem and I know it’s minuscule to compared to the actual struggles of so many people in the US and abroad. Just wondering if anyone has felt this as well and if so, how do you get rid of that self hatred?

I got an offer at Meta as a 3-mo contingent CSM that pays 2x what I make now.

Two pros: 1) Making the jump from a non-tech agency role to FAANG can be tough, so this is a great oppo in that aspect.
2) I'm living in SF on a non-tech salary, so the pay increase would be incredible.

It’s possible I could move into a similar role @ Meta once this expires, but to be safe, I'd need to start the job hunt again asap.

Thoughts on the pivot & how valuable a short-stint at Meta is for future job hunt?
