NEED HELP w/ start dates (East Coast U.S). Is it true that project lulls as early as Nov?

Options are the beginning of each month Aug to November, and Jan 2027. My #1 choice is Sept. On the chances that I'm not allocated that date, I'm seriously torn between Aug or Oct/Nov for my second choice. I've been told you'll have a higher chance of being benched if you start in Oct/Nov due to client vacays, but starting in Aug will essentially ruin my vacation plans as I don't graduate til late June.

I recently raised my rates after being told I wasn’t charging enough on here. Both of my main clients have already responded saying they either can’t pay me my new rate ($125/hour with 15 years experience) or are interested in “talking further.” So naturally I’m starting to freak out a little bit. I’m still pretty new to freelancing full time. What do I do/say? Do I hold my ground and hope for clients that pay me what I’m worth? Or lower my rates/standards and hope I can make ends meet! Help!

Been working on mostly (about 70%) public sector policy and strategy at Big 4 for most of my career. Often go up against MBB on RFPs and have a decent win rate. Would I be too senior to come in as a lateral hire? I guess it’s all about client networks at this level, and being government, it’s locationally dependent - so which markets have need?

How bad is it to sound shaky during the case interview? I got everything right and nailed the math but I feel like I sounded like I was about to cry even though I was confident 🤦🏻‍♀️

Is it easier to go from McK to BCG or Deloitte to BCG? If one is easier, how much easier? And do BCG recruiters ever poach from McK or is that a big no-no?
