We actually had some students asking their parents if they could stay and help. Staff members who had already put in a full day of work, worked so hard to help or community.
Aww this is so sweet! Thank you so much for sharing. What do your food bags consist of? We don't do anything like this at our school, but we should! We have lots of kids who face food insecurity when not at school.

It started small, but we partnered with Catholic Charities and other companies. Most of the time, there is some type of bread, canned food, snacks, breakfast items, canned tuna/chicken, etc.
Sounds like something our school would do as well!
My district had a “Souper Bowl” challenging another district to a canned food drive for our local food pantries. It went on for three weeks. At the beginning of week three, my school had 133 cans. A group of students took it upon themselves to go to all the local businesses asking for donations. Then they crossed into another state and did the same thing. Our final count was 14433 food items. The other district raised about 6,000 making the total over 20,000. The real winner here was the community and the food banks, who were full.

These events take the focus to a community level. Students forget about their needs to try to help someone else. However, students remember what they are going through, and it makes them more passionate about helping others. I like the name of the drive you had. It would definitely be a great drive to do around the Super Bowl time frame. 😀
