Best resume templates? My old one looks stale...
Oliver Wyman fishes, I have 1 YOE at Deloitte but not officially in their consulting practice, but working with a strategy consulting team there. If there are no ‘Consultant’ level openings on the career page right now, is there anything I can realistically apply for? Does Senior Consultant make any sense?

Deloitte, that’s the role. Most partners I know enjoy their work. You won’t make partner if you don’t and that’s your point of view. If you are not willing to invest your time , you cannot expect to have unlimited comp potential.
Good Partners have found a balance (in their own terms) with the job they do. You may find it unhealthy, they don’t. It’s like you cannot be a surgeon if you can’t stand the blood. You seem like a recent promote , Focus on SM work and getting comfortable. And then make a call based of if you are going to like it
Deloitte 3- where did you go?

The reason many of us aspire to that is for $$$ alone. It may have been a more relaxed / 'tenured' role in the past, but I expect PPMD to be more of an at risk role going forward. Poor performing PPMDs will get shown the door just like the rest of us. But many PPMDs are making $1m+ - so something many of us naturally work towards.
Im starting to believe that if you have the motivation and drive to make PMD, you can have a more succesful career in industry. Most partners are glorified salespeople
It’s something called a “Mimetic Desire - the idea that human desires are not original but are "caught" or imitated from others, known as models, rather than stemming from an inherent need for the object itself.”
So no, few of us on our own would want this for ourselves but it’s the only next step we see for ourselves based on our limited knowledge of alternative options at this point in our lives. So we grind, and push hard for promotions we probably don’t really want.
I believe “sweaty desperation“ is in the job description.

If that’s the case then this firm has nailed their hiring 😂

Always avoid desperate partners. The good ones sell and have WLB…
It is getting harder and harder to sell…Rates are high, margin thresholds are high. No wonder PMDs are sweating to sell, especially in the commodity technology implementation arena, smaller firms are likely more competitive.
I still question it
