“Okay just so I’m clear, what next steps do you need from me?”
Great tweak TPN
“Gotta be honest. I spaced. What do I need to do again?”
No
I'm account but everyone is also very overloaded, so i go with honesty. "I'm so sorry I was double tasking for a minute, can you repeat that?" 😂
It should be clearly outlined by accounts in their recap of next steps, roles & responsibilities.
Ask the account lead what’s expected for the next internal check-in, then gutcheck your CD/creative lead has the same expectations.
If there’s a delta, push the 2 to discuss and align - now you’ve added value beyond your immediate role!

I wish our account people sent recaps. There’s so much value in streamlined meeting notes that have been vetted by account people that know what’s actually important.
When I was in accounts I always made sure to take a ton of notes, then reference client feedback to distill the actual relevant info vs discussion, deliverables, and next steps. It’s become a lost art, handed over to janky AI to record meetings and dump out summaries that lose the important nuances.
Aside from shooting the shit in the first 5 mins, all parts of the meeting are important - feedback disclosure, discussion, reasoning, decision making.
What’s going on again?
Ask if you can go to the bathroom and run away
🤣🤣🤣
The George Costanza method. Downtown.
Look at Jira and clarify the details
If virtual: "Can you repeat that? Your sound cut out on my end."
This only works during in person meetings
I like the approach of ignoring and if they REALLY want it, they will chase you and ask again. So may things get asked in a meeting only because someone wants to talk but they hav forgotten before the meeting is over. Hedge your bets and see if the may ask again.
Risky? yes but worth it
If it’s a virtual or hybrid meeting, use a note taker. It’s one of the things AI is half decent at.
Can you repeat that, it was not clear on my end
Ask pm to get transcripts of meetings.
Honestly sometimes the clients will be like” so sorry I was multi tasking. Can you repeat the question?”
