Move dilemma:
Currently @ Arthur D. Little Limited Dubai as SE Manager w/ base comp of 285k $ + 10-15% bonus. Vert limited fit w/ people & projects in the region (MEI) & not motivated by seniors. Not happy w/ the job but good WLB. Very likely to promote to Pr which would include a 20-30% jump in total comp but shift to more variable
Move to MBB as PL. Projects & people are supposed to be great and he could see himself in the long run. Comp is 170k $ + 60% bonus. Will take 1.5y to move to Pr

Last night, Glenn Beck (of all people!), was on Anderson Cooper raising concern for the danger associated with normalizing this sort of behavior and rhetoric. It's becoming increasingly alarming, no doubt
@D3 tell that to the american born japanese that were interred during WWII because their parents were immigrants. its the analogy being used, so you can't say it's not relevant. http://www.ushistory.org/us/51e.asp
S&- are markets your only metric of how we are doing as a nation? If so, must be nice!
@p2, not all muslims are refugees (or immigrants for that matter). im an american citizen who was born here, and im muslim. why should i have to register on a separate list?
His supporters will always find a way to rationalize or explain away his words and behavior.
Also, the Japanese internment camps are possibly our greatest shame as a nation, behind only slavery IMO. If we're using that as precedent for current actions and policy we're in for a bad time indeed
To be fair, wasn't him. But still someone who ran one of his PACs.
In terms of objective metrics - you can certainly look at things like freedom of the press, free speech, due process of law, freedom of religion and other rights as indicators. Personally, I include a lot of social metrics like protections for minorities, women, social safety nets, the health care and education system. Even if you don't care about those social metrics, you should probably be alarmed for all of the others (e.g. Press, due process, religion)
As a Jew this terrifies me. History is doomed to repeat itself it seems. If there's a Muslim database that all Muslims have to register with that's pretty much a direct violation of the first amendment.
The problem is they are talking about a database for all American Muslims, including American citizens. This is really no difference than requiring that all Jews wear the juden star. This is a very scary and wrong road to go down. Remember- nearly all acts of domestic terror were carried out by either American citizens or people with visas who were already in a database
HOLY S**t! Has anyone read the history of the Third Reich? Or a more modern version of authoritarian regimes? It always starts by normalizing what is not normal! Today, l listen to Bernie talking about this and he made a lot of sense //www.c-span.org/video/?418660-1/senator-bernie-sanders-speaks-election-trump-presidency
I also saw Glenn Beck on AC show, and thought if one of their own (or previous associate) is saying what he was, I had to learn what Alt-right was. I found it on Southern Poverty Law Center https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/extremist-files/ideology/alternative-right
MC1 yep. First they came for ____, and I did not speak because I was not ____
For those claiming that people are pouring in by the millions, with minimal scrutiny, FYI: https://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2015/11/20/infographic-screening-process-refugee-entry-united-states
Markets are one metric. But there are others to also consider. Other indicators are also important bc markets are many times the lagging indicator.
@OP agreed. Social indicators are very important, also socio-economics ones.
I'm confused. His wording obviously was terrible but he was discussing registering immigrants from high risk countries. Don't all immigrants already register in some sort of database?!! I mean I would hope so. And if not that definitely needs to be a thing
@C1, it always starts with one group, then next group, and the next...
All refugees not only are registered by the FBI, they are fingerprinted and provide genetic samples. They go through very detailed background checks and are monitored by the DHS.
Scapegoating @PwC2
