We missed you, Teach!
Indifferent. It will change some things about how we our jobs, but it won't do away with the need for lawyers any time soon. And, like the previous big innovations which changed our field, some of the effects will be good and some will be bad.
I think a lot of firms are in the same place yours is. My career almost perfectly traced the evolution of tech in law practice. Westlaw and Lexus were in their infancy when I was in law school. I learned how to research and cite check using books. And my first computer was my college graduation present. AI is by far the most impactful tech innovation for lawyers (and everyone else). I have no ideas where it will lead but some combination of indifference and enthusiasm is the right mindset, in my view. It’s a powerful tool and anyone who doesn’t fully embrace it is going to get run over by it.
Having recently lateraled the investment among firms in AI varies immensely. I moved from a v30 to a v10 and the v10 is spending way more money on AI and we have access to basically every platform.

Can you share skills used for proofing?
Near term extremely exciting. Yes our clients wont need us for lots of easy stuff but also the amount and quality of what we can do will go up a lot.
But post ASI is just too outside context to predict, who has any idea about much of anything
