Kind souls who successfully exited to Google,
Would you be kind enough to refer me to a role at Google!
Came across a role that's a good fit. Would ideally like to target it through a referral and not by applying through the career site.
Would also love to maybe take you for a meal or alike to thank you for it :) Google

I’m not sure what to make of this. Interested in hearing what people believe is behind this trend?
I believe people aren't seeing the point in college any more, since depending on choice of major, it might actually be pointless to get a degree. Lots of people have been struggling to find jobs with their degrees (8+ months searching, applying to over 100 jobs, hearing back from around 5% and maybe out of 100 applications reaching 3-5 interviews and MAYBE one offer). On top of that tuition is insanely high and many people don't qualify for financial aid or would receive very little.
Add to that how expensive everything has become in the last few years (groceries, insurance, rent/housing, etc.) and people are left wondering why they should obtain a degree and burden themselves with student loans when they're not guaranteed to get a job with that degree?
Also with already outrageous tuition still rising, interest building on student loans can make it nearly impossible to pay them off. Using myself as an example, I have about 37k in federal student loans with an average interest rate between them of 4.2%. I'm enrolled in the SAVE plan and my monthly minimum payment is $153. Of that amount, $143 goes towards interest. It should also be considered I was able to borrow so much in federal loans due to my family's financial situation. Many other people would need to take private loans in order to attend college, and they usually have much higher interest rates.
You need to submit a FAFSA for statistics.
I remember my family filling it out. We knew we were not going to get any aid unless it was from the college due to merit. The process went as expected.
I became a data scientist and used data from FAFSA for so many things.
I didm't even realize that was part of the reason everyone had to fill out a FAFSA and that makes so much sense. I think there are so many people who don't do it like they are supposed to.
