Bowl Leader
Something I wish I did: start by listening if you can and introduce your point of view in the conversation as it happens.
Take 15-30 minutes tonight tomorrow to capture your thoughts and just organize them. (If you can do it tonight, it might help you sleep)
Then look at it again tomorrow morning to see if you need to add anything.
Is the meeting with the boss specifically for this topic? If you are meeting specifically about promotion/raise, you might want to reschedule.
Or is this just a standard 1.1?
Assuming you want to continue to be the manager - My personal approach would be something like - I know I’m doing X work for the last few months. I would like to discuss the possibility and timeline of a promotion and salary raise to match the new responsibilities that I have taken on.
And if the salary/promotion is 6 months down the road, what can we negotiate in the near term to reach that 6 month mark
The important thing here is to listen to what is being said and how your boss is phrasing things. Seek to understand.
