McKinsey & Company How likely is McKinsey to rescind an offer if there's a recession/downturn before my start date? Received an Associate offer with a start date early in the Fall. But I'm worried about the offer being rescinded due to the ongoing McK scandals/issues and a potential recession in the making (which may prompt them to freeze hiring and/or renege offers).
Has this happened to anyone before at McKinsey, offer getting rescinded due to economic/company downturn? A bit worried

It’s treated the same as the other lower tier federal holidays (Columbus Day, MLK, veterans’s day, etc) which is to say people kind of sort of attempt to not work but if something needs to get done they will ask without too much apology. It’s somewhere between a normal weekend and July 4. And July 4 I’d say is actually a step down from Christmas, thanksgiving, and new years.
Fully agree. I like these “lower tier” holidays because I feel like I can get more done - people seem more hesitant to call and bug you, even if everyone seems to be working anyways

It’s definitely not as well respected/universally observed as Fourth of July or Christmas, but I also think because it is an official holiday people generally don’t bug you unless you indicate that you’re open to be bugged.
It’s also my daughter’s first birthday, so we’ll be doubling up on celebrations!
Congrats - honestly teams will probably respect that a lot more than Juneteenth, if you tell them lol

Nice trolling. My firm only celebrates Cinco de Mayo and Uganda’s National Day.
My out of office will be on. ✊🏾
Same! And for gay pride week too 🤣 (I digress)
Based on the ebbs and flows of my practice area, I’ve had *far* better luck not working on King Day than 4th of July.
As the others have said, were in big law. Unfortunately, most holidays are not truly observed. If they want something from you on Juneteenth, they will ask for it. That’s just the way it works.
