McKinsey & Company How likely is McKinsey to rescind an offer if there's a recession/downturn before my start date? Received an Associate offer with a start date early in the Fall. But I'm worried about the offer being rescinded due to the ongoing McK scandals/issues and a potential recession in the making (which may prompt them to freeze hiring and/or renege offers).

You have nothing to worry about
Your offer is about as ironclad as it can be
Yeah you’re totally fine and the “scandals” are super blown out of proportion and have virtually no impact on the business from what I can tell
Appreciate the input so far. Just to add on, I'm actually an Experienced Hire, my MBA byline on FishBowl is from a few years ago. Hopefully being an Experienced Hire doesn't change the probability of a rescinded offer, especially since I'll be moving cities to join the firm 🤞
Unlikely
I would say unlikely but with the current market and economic climate, anything is possible

If you were recruited through your school, nearly 0. Schools often have rules that prevent employers from rescinding offers. If they do rescind, they lose their ability to recruit on campus for 3 years.
Deloitte did this quite a bit in 2008. They took a bit of a talent hit with the shut outs.
What firms have done, instead of rescinding, is push start dates back and stagger them. I’ve seen start dates get pushed back as far as 6 months, with a stagger of every 2 months.
Like others have said, you should be fine.
We’ve never rescinded offers because of macro conditions. Even 2008 & 2020. You’re fine.

The only thing that MAY happen is a delayed start date.
I was class of 2009 and ended up starting in early 2010.
That is really unlikely. I don't think McKinsey will rescind.I would be surprised if they did.
