Our firm just implemented a discretionary unlimited PTO policy, but everyone knows it’s a trap to keep us from accruing vacation days that have to be paid out. I haven't seen a single person take more than three consecutive days off since the policy started six months ago. I’m trying to set a boundary and take a full week off in July, but the guilt is already there. Any tips on standing firm on this?

If you're feeling guilty about taking a week off, something's seriously wrong. The gaslighting in your organization must be off the scale. Unlimited PTO can come with a lot of hassles in getting things approved, that's true. But you're entitled to take time off, and taking off a week in July is pretty much a time-honored tradition.

You have no reason to feel guilty for wanting to take a week off. Especially if you're asking about it now, four months before the vacation is planned. The only reason to feel guilty is if you dip out on short notice without giving anyone time to prepare, and you clearly aren't doing that. Take the vacation.

I only feel guilty at my job because my old company abused us but a planned vacation feeling guilty? Nah fam this job ain’t it

You work hard and deserve it! Don’t feel guilty over your right to relax while being paid!

10 years in the company where I started, working my way up from jr. analyst to present Manager M2 - Market and Tech Insights (5 levels), handling 2 major global tech/consulting clients. Next level is Sr. Manager.

I'm at Kolkata. Started off with 1.8LPA, currently around 11LPA. BTech+MBA. Always get scores of 4 out of 5 (exceeds expectations) KRA YoY and pointless praises about how well I managed projects, yada yada. I get good work-life balance.

Is this fair pay or am I exploited?

In a meeting we a client, we were looking at a stock image of a smiling Black man holding a baseball bat while wearing a hoodie. The client comments that it’s the wrong way to hold a bat. Cool. But, then follows up and says, “Also, he just looks aggressive. Like, this person would definitely attack me and my family.” I was shocked. But, apparently, I was the only one. Because everyone else on the call laughed. They were all white except for my partner who is Mexican. But, he still chuckled.

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

I have an offer and want to negotiate

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.
