People tell me that in order to make partner as a white collar litigator I have to be an AUSA first; how true is this?

I think it's pretty true. You get really valuable perspective by being on the other side.

It's not an absolute must; I know of relatively litigation partners at V15 law firms that are home grown with no AUSA (or other gov't) experience. Probably easier at firms that still retain a general lit model (less and less common)

Interesting. Let’s see if the uptick In cases continues to drive an uptick in hospitalizations and then in fatalities. Depends on how many of the cases are incidental or in very young people not prone to severe cases. But either way, look at the hospital capacity utilization figures! This is the untold story. Were we bending the curve to avoid unnecessary deaths due to overcrowded hospitals, or were we bending the curve to buy time for treatments and vaccine, or just to slow fatalities?

I’m at a mid size transactional firm. I’m a total night owl and my partners have OK’d me starting the workday at around 11am because I regularly work until midnight or later. I get so much more done after dark! I still get some side eye from other associates, but 🤷🏽‍♀️

Does anyone else here have an unusual work schedule? Curious what adjustments you’ve made to make it work.

What’s your firm’s paternity leave policy for male associates? At Midwest AM-200 firm and just learned 4 weeks paid. New moms get disability (70%) for 6 weeks and 4 weeks paid. Seem low for 2019...
