Agree, costs have escalated a lot in the last 5 years. Per diem limits are still what they were 20 years ago
My buddy at Accenture is still getting the same per diems as I was back in 2017. In 2017 that was barely enough to cover my expenses.
Look up the per diems that the govt uses they are updated yearly and by location and I was able to leverage this information in a recent trip to get a higher rate. Not always higher but any data that points to higher rates could help. 🤞🏼
Yes, I agree it always will be floor rates sadly. My point is that if the government is/are evaluating and shifting per diems upwards they are a perfect public example that cost are increasing.
When one area is increasing year over year rapidly on a govt website then there is no excuse for a private sector company to not be evaluating the cost of these trips. The last thing the government ever wants to do is pay more money.
That or the project will need to be receipt based reimbursement. Either way if it’s as low as OP states then there needs to be an evaluation on the project traveling cost.
