I’m looking for advice (I understand that it might be suck it up). I’m a young in-house attorney. I’m getting great experience but I don’t get guidance, training, advice, etc from my boss and she’s a perfectionist. So the feedback I do get is, mistakes can’t happen. Starting us off with an important tip: Your resume is a marketing document, not an autobiography. It should include relevant jobs, responsibilities, and perhaps most importantly, achievements. Where you can quantify an accomplishment or just talk up a major project you led at work or in an internship, do so. The point is to make the hiring manager think, “Wow, I need to talk to this person! They seem like a good fit!”

How important is Masters GPA as compared to work experience for full time jobs? I am student at Penn State University in Industrial Engineering. Currently my GPA is roughly 3.4. I doing an internship currently as Global Supply Chain Management intern. Do all the companies who hire look at GPA more than work experience?

I’ve been asked to weigh in on how to improve my firms parental leave policy. It’s currently 8 weeks paid for birth parent with an extra week for each year at the firm (up to 12 weeks total) and 2 weeks paid for non-birth parent. I’m in a major city, firm is a boutique that has been around a very long time. What would you suggest? Any studies or research you’ve seen recently on trends in parental leave policies also helpful. I’d like to have some sort of data to back up what I recommend. TIA!
