It’s called running a business
This thread has good points from both sides. Capitlism sees no evil but humanity is filled with it. There's no escaping it when you're talking money. Someone is always going to bear the brunt. Women in Cambodia cracking cashews till their hands bleed and are disfigured so we can have vegan mac n cheese that is saving the dairy cows who are being tortured and raped for their milk. Whenever you try to do good, someone will find a way to make it evil.
Demand. People like to be outraged but will still use the product.
They like to get outraged *on* the product. The more outrage, the more money FB makes. Evil genius!
Greed. Investors see opportunities, not people.
It's the same way Tesla and Amazon can grow exponentially even though there has been countless terrible evidence against their sourcing of supplies and human capital.
Because all these scandals are linked to their priority to maximize profit... Which investors appreciate.
We're too dependent on it to let it go or to actually make companies act better
