Please know that for some of us, this amount of "only" would be much more than what we have ever received for any singular year of our lifetime. And I don't say that just from my current field, my background as a college degreed paralegal still couldn't get me anywhere close to this amount of "only" not only in my hometown, but in the 50 mile radius I've tried to find better pay within.

I had a history teacher in high school who for some reason got on the topic of his pension. Keep in mind this was many, MANY years ago. We were not a very well-off area of the city, and this guy starts saying to a bunch of teenagers who couldn't afford to eat that he would *only* be receiving 50% of his pay, about $49k, for a pension. That was still way more than twice what many of our households brought in. I hated that dude from that day on. Then I got older, and I realized the way lifestyle creep comes for most of us. What I was ecstatic to make as new grad would barely cover 1/3 of my expenses these days. Now, 100k is *only* 100k to me, and it wouldn't be enough. I never could have imagined saying something like when I was younger. I was lucky to be able to climb the career ladder, but it hasn't made my financial margin much more than when I was making minimum wage.

Is there a specific post or comment that you're referring to? Of course when someone says they're "only" making X amount of money, that's always going to sound insulting to someone who is making a lot less. I dont' think it's personal though, we all have our own journey with building our careers and our incomes. And even though I have friends who definitely make more than me, I try not to take their standards personally.

Agree….much more than my family has made for me. It really helps to put it into context

Thinking of buying the Caraway cookware set. Has anyone tried it? I'm not much of a cook so it seems like a great set for me (also I'm a total sucker for the design and color options). Blogs I've read have all provided positive reviews but would love to get some personal input!

Okay, so I have pretty bad cystic acne, clogged pores and enlarged pores. I’ve been using curology and a mild dermatologist recommended soap. I have seen some improvement, however I was curious if anyone was struggling with it and has tried the “Flo Vitamin gummy’s “ on top of my fertility struggle this really has kinda killed my confidence. I know it’s not specifically fertility related but Was hoping to get some feedback on similar situations

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…

I received a job offer from company A and am currently negotiating salary. I have an interview with company B next week and know that they offer a higher base pay. There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me. Should I accept the offer from company A, continue interview process with company B and then rescind my offer with company A if company B offers me a job? Will I be burning bridges?

For expert witnesses/lawyers

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

I was approached on LinkedIn for an early career recruiting role in DFW, TX. I don't have direct experience, but I have the university experience/connections from working in career services. This is the first time I've considered work outside of higher education. I said my salary expectations are minimum $90k and that didn't seem to be an issue. Am I asking too little, too much? How can I know I'm getting the best salary and not just settling at the low end of the range?
