FWIW, I don’t think they need to work too hard to find talented people. Usually ad folks (creatives especially, burnt out creatives seeking meaning extra especially) are throwing themselves at presidentials, and lots of different agencies, people, departments get a piece. “The campaign” at this point includes the campaign, the party, a coordinating committee, and a lot more, so there will be a ton of people saying they did her ads/buying/etc. and they’ll technically all be right! I think the problem for Trump is that he has zero underlying strategy or message other than the exact same 4 or 5 talking points he’s used for the past dozen years.
- Doom and collapse if XXX is elected.
- I’ll solve all your problems. How? Just trust me.
- It’s (race, nationality, religion, etc) fault your lives suck.
- Conspiracies are EvErYwHeRe! I’m the only source of truth!
Problem is he’s used this exact same message (of lack thereof) from Hillary, to Biden, now to Harris. No real policy discussions, no real substance. No real communications strategy. Just moving the message to the target.
It shows a few things…
Trump and his team can’t adapt. They can’t even stay on message anymore, let alone create a new, more palatable strategy. That’s not a good trait for a politician or leader. Shows a lack of leadership.
He’s a one trick pony. Literally cannot think of anything new. The opponents have changed, society has changed, his old tired message is the same. Trump has no vision or even basic comprehension of the complex social issues facing everyday people past ever transparent populist fortune cookie talking points.
It’s becoming so obvious to even his most ardent supporters that he has no clue what he’s doing.
He got lucky and found a very flimsy, yet easy to market, populist message that appealed to a certain crowd at that exact point in time. Much of it based on very, to be blunt, dumb execution.
A bunch of 3 word phrases his constituents could understand and march around mindlessly repeating: “Build the wall” “Lock her up” “I’m your Jesus!”
Problem is he utterly failed to deliver on anything he promised and only made things worse. Of course he blamed everyone but himself.
This can work in the short term but elections are there for a reason. This is why Trump (and all tyrannical dictators) hate democracy. It holds leaders to accountability and put their policies and leadership to the fire.
Trump know his message is done and so is he.
What hasn’t he delivered on for his voters?
- tax cuts for the rich
- repealed women’s rights we thought settled.
- Stamped various immigrant bans and visa reductions
- Made sure SCOTUS is red-hat led for next 20-30yrs.
He’s successfully rolled back a lot of things he said he would.

I can’t believe a presidential candidate is well-connected enough to know a PRODUCER! Who works in ADVERTISING!!! 🤯🤯🤯
She’s not just a producer. She’s the head of one of the industry’s top production companies.
Also, it’s not about just knowing a producer. I’m sure many politicians do. It’s about having access to top-quality work and talent, and having people on your team who don’t just know how to produce it. But, you’ll actually listen to when they do.
That said, sure, your simplistic thinking on this could be a possibility, too.

The ads are good. But the social media team is the one KILLING IT.

Trust me, the interns are not running this. There’s got to be some grown ups managing this. I’m sure young people too, but not on their own.
This is the ad that led to that discovery. Very well done, once again.

All the ads in the world aren’t going to make these candidates any better unfortunately
I’ve personally never been more excited to vote in a presidential election 🤗 sorry you feel that way.
Part of her campaign smarts—leveraging all helpful connections to get things done.
As you said, politics aside, may be a good indicator for how she’ll continue to operate/manage/and strategize at home and on the global stage as President.
And agree, topics, framing and perspectives her campaign has chosen to focus on, and how the DNC was run for the most part was effective, compelling and polished.
The same team worked on the Biden campaign. It shows you how work can be night and day, depending on the client.

I still haven’t seen a single policy proposal that has been clearly articulated. She’s been an abject failure as VP. But yeah, cool commercial I guess? lol

@AD2 Don’t thank Fishbowl. That just means nobody has reported your comment or the thread as “inappropriate”. The second someone does, it will be gone.
Sure, the creative was good, but you can't deny the placement of the spot, right during the primest of moments of the DNC, didn't catapult it.
That's Media for you... Who's Kamala's planning and buying agency?
The placement I saw of the one linked above was right before Doug spoke. Maybe it was aired elsewhere but wasn’t that the purpose of it? To intro him?
That wasn’t an ad, it was a (albeit great and very polished) rip video made by Cole Emhoff to introduce his Dad, Doug before he made a speech.
So yeah, he asked his Mom Kerstin (co-founder of PRETTYBIRD) to help him. Doesn’t mean she’s responsible for the whole campaign, or any of the other commercials, unfortunately.
She has consistently vouched for Harris both politically and as a co-parent for her children.
She joined them last week at the DNC and at her 2021 inauguration as the vice president. It’s no secret.

I wish I could like this, but she just helped blow apart every child in Palestine. But cool job being a step-mom I guess, as long as it’s not your kids…
