potentially dumb question but who do you ask for references??? obviously wouldn’t want to be asking managers before actually accepting an offer, but ive been w the same company my whole career so?

I usually try to keep in touch with the people that left the firm, just in case I need a reference or referral.

like

Ask a senior or manager who you’ve worked with and know would keep the matter private.

What about anyone who left the firm? Or yes someone current who you trust. I wouldn’t rely on this, but my new employers (B4) didn’t even call my reference until after i was one month into the new job 😂😂

I’ve never been asked for references after my summer job when I was like 16

Wouldn’t the purpose of a reference be to help get an offer? So what would be the point of asking for a reference after accepting an offer? Apologies if I’m missing something

yeah, i just meant i wouldn’t really want to be telling people i work with i’m trying to leave (which would be implied by asking for a reference) before having a 100% out, if that makes sense?

like

You won’t need references.
