I’ve heard of this. It’s always smart to talk with a friend or relative or neighbor and list them as one of your emergency contacts for this reason. their job is to temporarily care for your dog. I also set my phone’s lock screen with a picture of me and my dog. The bottom of the phone says “my puppy” so responders know I have a dog. I also leave my dog’s info in my wallet on an emergency card
This is great advice. I also bought these for the emergency card and keychain: Pet Alert Fire Rescue Sticker - (4) 5" x 4" Window Door Decal - (2) Animal Care Wallet Cards - (1) Pet Home Alone Key Tag - in Case of Emergency Sign Kit - Safety Save Our Cat Dog Inside Accessories https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B078WHSVT1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_GrR1Fb53Q9CVP
Or just leave the toilet bowl open. Problem solved.

If you have a large enough dog that can reach the toilet bowl, most toilet bowls only have enough water for 2ish days. A water dispenser can last 4-5 days

Now I can’t stand the thought of leaving my baby home alone. He’s going with me everywhere! 😳

Understandable, but in the off chance you cant bring him, and something happens - at least you know he’ll be ok for several days if you have a water dispenser at home for him

There’s also an emergency contact card that can be kept on you / your wallet or in your car that tells emergency folks that you have a pet home alone. I’ve attached one example.

Also - make sure to get one that’s easy to clean as mold/bacteria can grow in still water

My pup is only 10 lbs so these were the options I looked at since they’re dishwasher safe. I just make sure to fill it up before leaving the house
