Pumping moms - do you pump in your office or the nursing/mothers room? My office locks so I could pump there, but the nursing room has a sink so that’s my preference. The issue is other people (assistants) are taking naps in the room and idk if I should complain.

You need to flag that with HR, you should absolutely have priority for that room. My firm tried to make our mom room double as a prayer room and one of our senior associates got them to change it.

I pumped in my office. It was just easier and I was able to continue working, so it didn’t disrupt my day too much. I would even take teams and zoom meetings while pumping. I personally highly recommend the office.

After pumping, I would take my pumping parts to the sink to wash them. Honestly had no issues. Just get something you can transport them in (I used a towel lol). Walking to and from a nursing station plus not working during your pump sessions would take up so much of your day and honestly make pumping a little more unbearable. For reference, I pumped at work for 10 months until I switched jobs (now fully remote).

I pumped in my office. Brought in my own mini fridge to keep pump parts (if yoy are comfortable with the fridge hack) and used a Ceres Chill to hold my milk during the day and for transport home. I was able to work while pumping which was a huge plus. I put up a sign on my door to not disturb and no one ever bothers me

Speaking up is not a complaint. The nursing/mother’s room is for nursing, not for assistants to nap in. Let HR know.

Definitely report this immediately.

I pumped in my officr bc I found that doing work on my computer was a good distraction. I stored milk in a mini fridge under my desk. Then I carried the pump stuff down the hall to a sink in a cute, discrete pouch when I needed to wash it. I usually just stored it in the mini fridge all day so it stayed cold, and took it home to wash at night at home.

I used my office.

Also pumped in my office so I could keep working and used Dr. Brown’s bottle wipes on pump parts plus keeping them in my mini fridge for a kind of fridge hack+ option that I was more comfortable with.

I like pumping in my office (access to my computer and stuff if I want), and just bring 2 sets of clean flanges so I don’t have to worry about washing anything.
But if you prefer a room with a sink, that’s totally your right, and you should raise the issue with HR or whoever manages the assistants.

HR offered to set up my office to pump in since our nursing room is on a different floor. So I have a lock, a window cover and mini fridge. I am comfortable with the fridge hack. It’s honestly the reason I have continued pumping as long as I have. 11 months pp and pumping 3x a day. I would still report the issue with people napping in the nursing room to HR.

I had an associate who desired to pump in her office, but we had glass panels beside the doors. So HR had a curtain fashioned for her and installed. I was impressed with the firm. Especially because we also had both a wellness room and a nap room.

Ya the room is for nursing not napping. Let HR know.

I would focus on pumping where you are most comfortable so you can have a productive pumping experience. For me, that location would be my office but everyone is different. Do what is best for you.

I'm up for a pharma agency senior CW role in the Rx/HCP vertical. I have been freelancing for 11 years, so mostly contract rates between $50 and $80 p/h (lower end on W2, higher 1099). They want to know my 1099 rate and salary requirements if full-time employee. Would $75 hourly and $110K be within range? They are in Philadelphia. I have been working in the Chicago, San Fran, and NYC markets mostly.
