Just because no one said anything doesn’t mean it’s official allowed. Spend some time digging around on the HR side (the documents from HR that say what you can and can’t do).
My international company does not allow you to work in another country unless you are on an official business trip.
It's possible, or even likely, that you were just flying under the radar and no one happened to notice that you were outside the country. I wouldn't count on that always being the case. It's highly likely it's something that wouldn't be approved. And if you set up somewhere for two weeks and it does get noticed, you'll be in a bad spot. At best you'll seem presumptuous. And if it really does violate security and legal policies, you could be terminated.
