I’ve only seen PMs care about strategy workloads when it interferes with creative timelines. So the job of resource manager typically falls upon the highest level strategist on the account who usually has no management training or time to manage below. Definitely something that needs to change or the industry is going to lose a lot of strategists to burn out
That makes zero sense to me.
Welcome to Digitas!
Haven’t had PM support in 5 years (2 different jobs.)
I hate that we have no PM support. Makes it feel like Strategy is even more devalued than it already is.
Seems standard that PM only tracks creative. They are taught to be brief hunters who are unaware of how strategy works or what our job is. It’s not their fault it’s the culture of agencies.
We should do it but don’t. I joined a team recently and was surprised to know it was only creative. It’s an archaic way of working.
I couldn't tell you what my strategy team is ever working on but I do know they are always "too busy" for everything.
Uncommon for me. You can’t true up against scoped hours without looking at all departments and their very valuable time contributions.
The amount of times I don't learn about something until "we're just waiting for a brief!" is madness. The first half of a project has no timeline and then we have to make up the time during creative development. Then I'm hit with "strategy had 2 months, why do we get 2 weeks?" from the CD.
